Hello! My name is Dylan McDougle, and I’m a mixer, musical director, and audio engineer based in New York City.

My role in the music industry has taken many forms throughout my career. I started as a DJ, where I spent a decade setting the vibe in nightclubs for the tastemakers of New York, LA, Chicago, and Miami. I’ve also toured globally with several artists, and had the opportunity to perform at some of the most iconic venues and festivals around the world. For many years, I owned a multi-studio recording facility in Soho, where I engineered well over 10,000 hours of recording sessions for some names even my mom recognized. I’m so grateful for these experiences, all of which helped me learn the nuances of why & how listeners connect with music.

A song will take many forms through its lifecycle: from iPhone demo to full production, studio recording, mixing, release on streaming and vinyl, and live arrangements for TV and touring. Each stage requires changes in the musical approach, and the use of completely different equipment to capture and reproduce. It can be challenging to understand it all - adapting to the different technical requirements and sonic best practices - all while preserving the original intent of the music along the way, but that’s that’s where I come in...

These days I’m working behind the scenes, collaborating with artists to ensure that their work resonates emotionally and connects with listeners throughout the entire album cycle. I know how the technology works, and am meticulous about how their music sounds, so that they can stay focused on how it all feels.

My mixing and engineering credits span a diverse list of artists, including Chance the Rapper, Chelsea Cutler, Ed Sheeran, Jeremy Zucker, Kygo, Louis the Child, Noah Kahn, Quinn XCII, Sabrina Carpenter, and a rapidly-growing collection of 7 RIAA Gold and Platinum certified recordings.

Lately, I've had the opportunity to be the musical director for live performances on so many major television shows, like Good Morning America, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, James Corden, and Stephen Colbert. Two of my recent favorites include Quinn XCII’s halftime show for a Detroit Lions NFL game, and Chelsea Cutler’s rendition of “Imagine” on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Years’ Eve in Times Square.

I’m always interested in working with new clients, whether this means working on a song that's just a great mix away from being a breakout hit, or reworking a full length studio album for an engaging live show on an upcoming tour.

When I’m not mixing in my Brooklyn studio or leading a band through rehearsal in Nashville or LA, I enjoy going out of my way for a great espresso, and reading about the competitive engineering in Formula 1 racing.

If you’d like to work together, ask a question, or just point me in the direction of your favorite cafe, I’d love to hear from you!
